I think this track is my personal favourite on the whole EP. The lyrics to this song were actually written in 1586 by a man called Chidiock Tichborne who was sadly executed after being involved in a plot to put Mary Queen of Scotts on the English throne in place of Elizabeth I. He was incredibly young and only in his early 20’s when he was imprisoned in the tower of London where he was then put to death. However this poem was discovered in his cell which he wrote as his Elegy. The words are so moving and echo the sorrow and missed opportunity of a life cut short and I immediately fell in love with the poem and couldn’t help myself by setting it to music.
